Subject Librarians – Your Research Allies: The library’s team of subject specialists is committed to assisting you with any research questions you may have. Whether it’s crafting a plan for research papers, refining search terms, or navigating the world of literature reviews, Iowa State University librarians are here for you. Reach out via email or phone, or schedule a virtual appointment at Find Your Librarian.

Research and Course Guides – Your Online Navigation Tools: Explore numerous online resources, including research guides by subject area, course guides, and information literacy guides at Iowa State Library Guides. Library Resource Guides are your go-to for finding relevant materials, no matter the subject. Within each guide, you’ll discover suggested readings, academic journals, databases, online resources, websites and more.

Research Data Services – Harnessing the Power of Data: Dive into the world of responsible data practices, data ethics, and more at Data Services. Data experts are ready to help you create data management plans, which are essential for federal grant applications. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore and contribute to DataShare, a platform providing free access to research data produced by Iowa Staters.

Collections – Access Beyond Boundaries: If you identify physical resources in the library’s collection that you’d like to review, the library’s document delivery service has you covered – with no additional charge to you as a student. Students in online programs can request delivery of physical items or a digital copy of owned items, and they can request items from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan. You can also explore the Digital Repository, Digital Press, and Special Collections, which offer a wealth of scholarly works, rare books, and historical documents.

Workshops – Sharpen Your Skills: A rich portfolio of practical virtual workshops is provided to help you expand your academic and professional skills. Digital file management, website design, and digital humanities are among the available enrichment topics. Check out the schedule of upcoming events here. Find online events by easily filtering your search in the calendar of events.

Tutorials – Guiding Your Research Journey: Research is an elemental part of your academic life; it may also be essential to your professional responsibilities.
